The Baltimore Ravens face the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, Oct. 8 in NFL Week 5 2017 season. Here’s all the info you need to watch the matchup. A lot can change in two weeks. After Week 2 wrapped up the Baltimore Ravens and Oakland Raiders were looking pretty good. They both were not only winners, but had wins by more than a touchdown. Then they each lost in Week 3 during some highly visible games. Baltimore went to London and were waxed the Jacksonville Jaguars in a 44-0 blowout. They then lost in Week 4 to a divisional rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers. That one was closer, but still a pretty ugly game overall for the up-and-down Ravens.
The Ravens heads into the third week without starting defensive tackle Brandon Williams in the lineup. He’s been ruled out with a foot injury. But two young Ravens defensive linemen Carl Davis and Willie Henry stepped up with Williams out to take charge of defense in the game against the Steelers last week and they did pretty well. Much will be expected of the two in the game the Raiders as well. The Ravens will be sending Carl Davis and Willie Henry to bolster the defense further on Sunday and second-year starter Michael Pierce will also get more snap counts. Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith who was dealing with an Achilles issue was a full participant.
s starting quarterback Derek Carr sustaining a back injury last week against Denver, the Raiders will have their hopes on backup QB EJ Manuel when he hits the field against Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Although there was a big fuss after running back Marshawn Lynch joining the Raiders it seems the veteran stills needs some time to make big plays this season. Wide receiver Amari Cooper will have pressure heading into Sunday’s clash as the status of wide receiver Michael Crabtree remains uncertain as he is dealing with a chest injury.
Oakland also was embarrassed in Week 3, as they finished the Sunday slate of games with a trip to the Nation’s Capital. Once there, the Washington Redskins made them look foolish in a 27-10 victory. Like Baltimore, they also found themselves in a closer divisional battle, but they were unable to beat Denver. In that one, they also lost starting quarterback Derek Carr to a fractured back. Now with E.J. Manuel under center, Oakland looks to regain some of the magic they had in Week 2. For Baltimore, they have to hope quarterback Joe Flacco can find his rhythm and get them rolling once again.
