Both teams met a year ago when the Blue Devils after taking an early 7-0 lead but fell 34-20 later into the game at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Was last week just a bad game or was it the culmination of the warning signs we’d seen throughout the first four weeks of the season? Probably a little bit of both, but there’s certainly a lot of improvement for Duke heading into, what I believe, is a crucial game at Virginia. Not that the Wahoos are as talented as the Miami squad that rolled into Wallace Wade last week, but Virginia is very well coached and does have the ability win this game. Virginia isn’t a terrific running team, but can throw the ball pretty well with QB Kurt Benkert who is completing two-thirds of his passing attempts on the season. Not only that, but Virginia takes care of the ball having turned it over just once on the year.

Duke is coming off their first loss of the 2017 season as they dropped a 31-6 game to Virginia. Duke was held scoreless and to only 125 yards of offense in the second half last Friday night BrooksWallace Wade Stadium. Virginia broke a road game losing curse last Friday night as after losing 20 of its last 21 road games they claimed a 42-23 rout of Boise State. Quarterback Kurt Benkert has combined 49-of- (.710) for 728 passing yards with six touchdowns during the last two games. He picked th ACC Offensive Back of the Week and will be looking forward another great outing against Duke on Saturday.
